The team at ACYCLE believe that the mixture of education and cultural activities allows children of all abilities to engage and grow together, by learning and having fun at the same time.

Children on the after school programme will be introduced to their history through arts, crafts and cultural foods which helps to instil a sense of identity where it has been lost.

The most critical benefit will be the time given to listen, support, direct and inspire through music, writing, song, drama and creative media.

The project will last for one year initially, with scope to continue for many years to come once we have established ourselves as a cornerstone to the black community within the Ipswich area.

Low self-esteem in Black children is a direct result of what they have not been taught about who they were. Although knowledge of self is essential to academic progress, race pride is even more essential than knowledge of self
